The Math Lovers Forum is a platform for promoting fascinating aspects of modern day mathematics for curious and math-loving people.
The Forum’s activities include:
- Inviting prominent mathematicians to present their work and ideas in an intimate setting. Dinner and discussions provide for a fun way to get to know our celebrity and his subject. Forum events take place in and around Berkeley, California, home of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI). (More information)
- Sponsoring math outreach programs and activities, including YouTube’s most popular informal mathematics channel, Numberphile, as well as math-related public performances, workshops, grants, and scholarships.
- A website to foster blogs, math puzzles, curiosities, streaming lectures and a calendar of stimulating events.

Ashok K. Vaish has a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley (1980). His first company, Impel Corporation, designed nuclear power plants in the U.S. and abroad. He has also worked on the design of offshore oil rigs and artificial intelligence applications. Since 1991, Vaish has focused on providing start-up and seed capital to Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. In addition, he has explored the startling terrain of Patagonia, the Arctic tundra, and many other parts of the world. His passions include nature photography, travel and wildlife, astronomy, archaeology, mathematics, science, and philanthropy.
Gita Vaish is a history major who has been active in the Bay Area in promoting arts and humanities. She has served as President of the Society for the Arts and Cultural Heritage of India (SACHI) and is a sponsor of museums and universities throughout the region.
